Magical Girl

We forget about the journey of magical girls and here is the space in which I explore everything related to kawaii, harajuku, anime, and everything pink.

Battle Mage - Magical Girl

Inspired by my love of Anime Magical Girls, this facet of my writing and style represents my Kawaii (Japanese for “Cute”) lifestyle. I admire Ultra Femme aesthetics, the color pink, and magic. From Sailor Moon to Sanrio this part of me is 100% invested in being Kawaii and Fierce.

Kawaii Street: Sugar Glam

The weather outside is frightful, but it doesn’t mean your fashion has to be. I am the Empress of Faux Fur & this winter I’m making magical girl aesthetics glamorous and decadent. I keep wondering how to keep it kawaii in the streets but its cold outside. My legs can only take the wind for so long, so I need to combat that with something overly warm yet fashionable. One thing I can say about faux fur is it comes in so many colors. I have my eye on a handmade coat by Un-ResAttic as a cute addition to Visual Kei, and Decora Coords later in life. I also am ashamed to say the pastel colors Forever 21 has currently are just as tempting. When I listened to the O-Kei Podcast, I was interested in the term "Fast Fashion" as a reference to buying from places like Forever 21. As someone who doesn't always have money, I am someone who partakes in it occasionally. It did make me feel sad, but I work my look from what I can, and for now, I'm doing my kawaii best to buy from more local, and smaller j-fashion shops.

As a creative fashionable dabbler, I have admired vintage looks for quite some time, and I realized it is very possible to take the glam aesthetic and meld it into a Kawaii style. So I did just that. I took my Sanrio Converse, my red suspender skirt, and keeping the red as a highlight in my accessories I made sure my makeup was sugary pink and bright. Overall creating a Sugar Glam. I think my idea for Sugar Glam came from my delightful interview with Marioso and his 1920's influence alongside the sweet love from Sugarcubs illustrations. With my recent acquirement of pieces from the Sanrio x Converse line, I've been struggling to pair them outside of their color palette. I found that instead of fearing the monochromatic look I could embrace it and use it to my advantage.

Unfortunately for this look, I am lacking in the accessory department outside of the Loungefly Sanrio Bag and Aldo Beret. Doesn't mean it isn't paired well because I chose to highlight the red of the fur with my beret and bag. Never underestimate the power of the Beret. It is a statement and a vintage accessory that pays homage to some of my favorite icons. As I've come to love during styling, a Beret is fun if you collect pins or resin clips. Boosting your Beret to Decora is actually very fun. For this look, I kept it plain yet glamorous, making sure the center of my outfit was my faux fur as a melancholic glamorously kawaii muse.  If you like Kawaii Style, get creative this winter and stunt in the warmth of layers and colored faux fur.

All my photos were taken by my favorite kawaii youtuber RoxiwithsomeMoxi we got to hangout take some cute photos of her new skirts and eat Urban Plates! My Recommendation is to check out the O-Kei Podcast and learn more about the J-fashion scene whenever you can. I’ve really enjoyed listening to people in the fashion lifestyles I admire and find it encourages me to keep sharing my own fashion experiments and presentations.
